Serena Williams is having a girl! The pro tennis star, 41, and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, made a grand announcement about the gender of their second child together. The pair already has a 5-year-old daughter named Olympia. Serena made it clear when she arrived at her “baby shower-slash-gender reveal” party that she was “team pink,” as she phrased it, by donning a pink and white blouse and skirt that displayed her growing belly.
A multicolored balloon bouquet was hung on long white poles to imitate trees, a rainbow-colored balloon arch with a banner reading “Our Next Great Adventure,” a multicolored balloon bouquet, as well as matching blankets were placed across the beautiful grounds for the comfort of the visitors. “I’m a little worried since I don’t have any backup preparations in case it’s a boy.,” Serena said. Serena was unaware of Ohanian’s desire to enjoy himself at the time. Ohanian chose a yellow cake to confuse the tennis legend rather than the customary pink dessert for a girl and blue cake for a boy.
He stated that “When she cuts into this cake, she will definitely be dissatisfied, but who knows, maybe she’ll appreciate my troll. We’ll see, though. I’m not sure if she’ll approach it professionally. It’s possible that she may roll her eyes when she sees this cake emerge and mutter, This guy had one job and he gave me a goddamn cake gender reveal.” Still, we’ll see. After the disclosure, there is another reveal. Serena has posted a video on her YouTube account in which Serena, her dad and Venus Williams could be seen in the thumbnail.
Serena Williams announced her second child in May at the Met Gala
The tennis champion revealed she was expecting her second child in May. Williams shared a carousel of images of herself and Ohanian along with the big announcement on Instagram. Serena Williams clutched her growing baby belly in one shot, while the pair can be seen smilingly standing next to one another. “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” the post’s caption said, along with a list of wardrobe, hair, and cosmetics information for the Met Gala.
After writing an essay for Vogue last year about her intention to start an “evolution” away from tennis and her plans to expand her family of three, Serena Williams’ pregnancy became public knowledge. Williams also said in the piece that she “never thought about having kids” when she first started her profession. Their reaction to the reveal could be seen in a video shared on Twitter.
“There have been occasions when I have questioned whether I should ever have children in this troubled society. If I ever had a baby, I would have somebody taking care of it around the clock since I was never that secure or comfortable around babies or kids,” she said. The three of them went on a baby moon in Europe after she made her pregnancy known, and they shared multiple pictures on each other’s Instagram accounts.
