Rafael Nadal posted a new advertisement with NBA star Steph Curry to promote his new sponsorship arrangement with the international fast food chain Subway in an amusing form. With the new Subway collaboration, Nadal, who has rich sponsorship agreements with companies like Nike, Kia Motors, and Richard Mille among others, has added to his already strong portfolio.
Curry can be seen in the new commercial wondering if the sandwich, which has sliced meats, measures up to the Spaniard’s slice shot. The 22-time Slam winner shared the advertisement on social media, noting ironically that his slice couldn’t compare to Subway’s and including a video of his illustrious shot as a point of comparison.

His English in the advertisement has become the target of several social media trolls. Rafael Nadal asks Curry in the advertisement, “This slice as good as your tennis slice?” and some people have criticized him for how he pronounces the term “slice.” Others have said that Nadal speaks poor English in general, but these complaints are mostly false. His English, on the other hand, is fully comprehensible, and he is able to speak well in the advertisement. In reality, considering that he is not a native speaker, several people have said that Nadal’s English is rather strong. It is rather unfortunate that some individuals are mocking Nadal’s English in the Subway advertisement.
Finally, whether you think Nadal’s English in the advertisement amusing or not is a question of personal preference. However, there is no doubting that the commercial has sparked a lot of debate on social media. Nadal has yet to reply to the mocking of his English, although he has previously stated that he is proud of his multilingual. He has also stated that he is always striving to improve his English.
